About Election of TUAN Representatives

50th Anniversary Commemorative Events

The University of Tsukuba (UT) will commemorate its 50th anniversary on October 1, 2023, and the 151st anniversary of the establishment of its predecessor, Japan’s first higher education institution, the Normal School. On this occasion, UT will hold a commemorative ceremony on September 30, 2023, and an overseas alumni event and various other commemorative events on October 1, 2023.
Some events will be streamed online, but we would be very grateful if overseas alumni could take this opportunity to come to Tsukuba and see the current UT. The URL of the live stream will be announced at a later date.

Launching the “Tsukuba Universal Alumni Network (TUAN)” of 50th Anniversary Commemorative Event

On October 1, our 50th anniversary, UT will launch the Tsukuba Universal Alumni Network (TUAN) to further strengthen overseas alumni associations, alumni networks, and connections with alma maters, as well as to promote the establishment of new overseas alumni associations.
As one of commemoration event of the 50th anniversary, UT will hold “Tsukuba Universal Alumni Network (TUAN)” – Connect Together the Past-Present-Future and the World”.

About Election of TUAN Representatives and the Schedule

In the launch of TUAN, a representative and vice representatives will be elected among foreign graduates and graduates living abroad.

Election

If you are an overseas alumnus (foreign graduates or graduate living overseas) of the University of Tsukuba who would like to run for the TUAN represent, please register as a candidate using the of u-Rad system.  *Candidature closed.

Primary voting

Through the online primary voting by overseas alumni from mid-July, the top four vote-getters of the candidates will be invited to attend the event onsite on October 1 by the university’s expense. *Primary voting closed.

Final voting

Invited candidates will be asked to present their memories of their time at school, their career paths, and their thoughts on the University of Tsukuba. On October 1, a final vote will be held among graduates, international students and online participants at the venue, and the representative and vice-representative will be decided based on the number of votes obtained.

We have sent information of primary voting to foreign graduates and graduates living abroad.
If you have not received the information of primary voting via e-mail, T-Net and LinkedIn, Please join the Tsukuba Alumni Network (T-Net)❐. After Joining T-Net, we’ll send the information of primary voting via e-mail.

Representative Requirements:

Those who have graduated or completed a degree from the University of Tsukuba
(For Japanese nationals, those who live overseas at the time of candidacy)
*Former non-degree student including exchange students, and current student can vote only, not run for it.

If you are an overseas alumnus (foreign graduates or graduate living overseas) of the UT who would like to run for the TUAN represent, please register as a candidate using the form of u-Rad system. Please refer to the About Universal Alumni Network (TUAN) for the roles, etc. of representatives.
Candidates must apply by Friday, July 7, 2023 and the top four vote-getters will be invited to participate in the event on October 1 through the online primary voting by overseas alumni from mid-July, at the expense of the UT.

At the above event, we’ll ask invited candidates to talk in front of alumni and current international students about their memories of their time as a student, their career paths, and their thoughts on the UT. In addition, the President will convey the present and future visions of the UT to the graduates. If you wish to run for the represent, please keep your schedule open from Sep.28 to Oct.2.
