On October 25, 2019, an event called “Art Night” was held at the State Children’s Library named after Begalin. Ninomiya Takashi, a Japanese visiting professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University’s Department of the Far East, attended the event. He conducted trial lessons in origami. Along with Kazakh students having studied at the University of Tsukuba and Osaka University, students from Japan who were studying Russian at KazNU also took an active part in the lesson.
Kazakh children were very pleased to make paper cranes with their own hands. The paper crane represents people’s wishes for peace. Aside from the paper crane, they also learned how to make the Samurai headdress “Kabuto”. The number of interested children was about 200. This event provided Japanese students the opportunity to practice the Russian language with Kazakh or Russian children.
