The University of Tsukuba Malaysia opened in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur on September 1, 2024. This is the first case that Japanese university launched its overseas branch campus awarding Japanese degrees.
On September 2, a signing ceremony was held in the presence of Minister of Higher Education (MOHE) Malaysia YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir in the morning. Afterwards, the opening ceremony and entrance ceremony were held, attended by representatives from both Malaysia and Japan, Mr. YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Haji Megat Sany bin Megat Ahmad Supian, Deputy Secretary-General of MOHE, Malaysia and Mr. YANO Kazuhiko, Senior Deputy Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Japan, Mr. TAKAHASHI Katsuhiko, Embassy of Japan in Malaysia.
