VICE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR YOSHIAKI SATO PARTICIPATES IN 4TH JOINT WORKING GROUP INDONESIA-JAPAN CONFERENCE

The 4th Joint Working Group Indonesia-Japan Conference was held on the theme “Strengthening Network for Research, Innovation in Higher Education and Industry Linkage for Sustainable Development” last October 23-25, 2017 in Surabaya, Indonesia.

Conducted in two main schemes, the Technical Meeting and Presidential Meeting, Vice Rectors and heads of research institutions discussed potential cooperation that can be realized based on clusters of cooperation agreed: (1) Collaboration and University Governance Education, (2) Research and Innovation Collaboration, and (3) Industry and University Cooperation in Innovation.

Meetings were held between university rectors and other representatives to discuss the results of the technical meeting agreement. A joint declaration was adopted at the end of the conference.

Representing the University of Tsukuba, Vice Executive Director for Global Affairs, Mr. Yoshiaki Sato, joined the education subcommittee. Indonesia accounts for the third largest number of international students at the University of Tsukuba, following China and South Korea, mainly through the initiatives of the TAG-AIMS Program encouraging active mutual exchanges between our partners in Indonesia and the university.

The year 2018 is the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Indonesia. Relations between Indonesia and the university have been deepening year by year, including the support of the Indonesian Alumni Association of the university. It is hoped that further progress will be made in education and research exchange between our university and Indonesia.

There were 27 participating universities and institutions from Japan and 55 from Indonesia.
