President Nagata Attended Alumni Meetings in Vietnam

Alumni Meeting in Hanoi

Alumni meetings were held in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday, October 8, 2022, and in Hanoi on Sunday, October 9, 2022, on consecutive days. From University of Tsukuba, President NAGATA Kyosuke, President, and Executive Officer OHNEDA Osamu of the University (Director of Office of Global Initiatives), participated on site on both days. In addition, Professor KUMAGAI Yoshito (Medical Sciences) and Associate Professor Ho Kiong (Medical Sciences) also participated in the meeting at the Ho Chi Minh City. Since this was the first time in three years that President NAGATA visited to Vietnam. It was the first time to attend the alumni meeting in Hanoi, so that President received a warm welcome, with all Hanoi alumni welcoming him with applause. On both days, alumni reported to the President on their recent activities and renewed old friendships with other alumni whom they had not seen for a while.

In addition, the current international students studying at the University of Tsukuba were connected online this time. Current Vietnamese students in Tsukuba (Ho Chi Minh City: 7 and Hanoi: 9), Associate Professor NOMURA Nakao (Global Commons, Southeast Asia Regional Director), and alumni (Ho Chi Minh City: 19 and Hanoi: 28) deepened exchanges.

These meetings were great opportunity to learn about the current activities of the alumni and to deepen ties not only with other alumni but also with current students in preparation for the 50th anniversary of the school next year.
We look forward to the continued success of our alumni and the further strengthening of our alumni network connections in the future.
