On March 26, the certificate awarding ceremony for the Student Ambassadors was held and 24 student ambassadors who were able to attend the ceremony were presented with Certificates of Appreciation by Vice President HOMMA Miwako (Student Affairs), Vice President/Executive Director IKEDA Jun (Global Affairs), and Vice President NISHIO Chizuru (Planning, Evaluation, and Public Relations).

The student ambassadors completed trainings in the history of the University of Tsukuba and international etiquette, and guided the visitors from abroad at 151st+50th Anniversary Ceremony and related events held in September and October last year.

At the ceremony, Vice President Ikeda expressed his gratitude to the student ambassadors, and each student ambassador reported on the activities in which they had been engaged and gave their impressions.

TUAN Topics: A bottle of wine from the University of Bordeaux

The delegation of the Bureau of Global Initiatives of the University of Tsukuba received a souvenir wine from the University of Bordeaux. To commemorate the collaboration agreement, our university is selling special bottles of Château Couin Rouge, red wine produced at the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRA), a partner research institute of the University of Bordeaux.

TUAN Topics: 【Announcement】J-MENA (Study in Japan Project in Middle East & North Africa) Event

An online event for Middle East & North Africa high school and university students who are interested in studying in Japan will be held on March 27 and 28.

The University of Tsukuba will have a virtual booth on the 27th and participate in chat session from 18:00 to 20:00 JST (UTC+9), Dr. NOMURA Nakao, Director of International Exchange, Student Support Center, will give a presentation about the university from 19:45 to 20:00.

 

TUAN Topics: Lunchtime event: Borderless Onsite Meeting -Turkmenistan

On March 15, Borderless Onsite Meeting, an event held every 3rd Fridays in odds months, took place.

A student from Turkmenistan delivered a presentation titled “Turkmenistan: A Journey through Culture and History,

and with the support of the Embassy, the event featured an exhibition of ethnic costumes, crafts, and some traditional sweets and light meals.

 

TUAN Topics: Staff training in Bordeaux, France

From March 4 to 8, two administrative staff members were dispatched to Bordeaux, France, on a short-term overseas training program organized by the Global Commons, Bureau of Global Initiatives.

They visited the University of Bordeaux, which is one of our CiC partner universities, to observe student internship program at IUT de Bordeaux, tour the campus, and meet with the staff in charge of international affairs.

On March 6, a delegation of students participating in the month-long Overseas Internship Program at IUT de Bordeaux, accompanied by Director SAKURAI Takeaki of the Office of Global Initiatives and administrative staff members, had the honor of visiting Mayor Michel Labardin at Gradignan City Hall, France.

TUAN Topics: Overseas Internship Program at Bordeaux Institute of Technology

The students from the College of Information Science and College of Engineering Sciences participated in the month-long Overseas Internship Program at the Institute of Technology, an educational institution of the University of Bordeaux, which is one of our CiC partner universities. The students stayed in a local student dormitory for about a month and worked on a project to create a sumo robot.
