including new students for free, is taking place in the Student Commons, a space for students to interact with each other.

TUAN Topics: Students from the Bordeaux Institute of Technology came to Japan

The students participating in the Tsukuba Short-term Study Program (TSSP) from the Bordeaux Institute of Technology, arrived in Japan, and Associate Professor Aranha Claus de Castro, who is in charge of the program, conducted an orientation session.

The orientation was also attended by the students of the University of Tsukuba who participated in an internship at the Bordeaux Institute of Technology in March.

One of the students from the Bordeaux Institute of Technology, said that she was really looking forward to coming to Japan and looked happy to see the students of the University of Tsukuba again in Japan.

TUAN Topics: Undergraduate Entrance Ceremony / Graduate School Entrance Ceremony for AY2024

The entrance ceremonies for the undergraduate school, graduate school, and the Acupuncture and Physical Therapy Teacher Training School for the academic year 2024 were held at the University Hall Auditorium on April 5. Newly enrolled students included 2,217 undergraduate students, 7 Acupuncture and Physical Therapy Teacher Training School students, and 2,511 graduate students.

TUAN Topics: University of Tsukuba and IIT Bombay Sign Agreements for Academic Collaboration and Joint Institute

On March 26, 2024, President NAGATA Kyosuke of the University of Tsukuba and Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, held an online signing ceremony for three agreements: a Letter of Intent (LOI) on the Establishment of the Joint Institute (IITB-UT), a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Academic Exchange, and a Students and Scholars Exchange Program Agreement.

This signing marks a significant step towards closer collaboration between the University of Tsukuba and IIT Bombay, paving the way for joint research, student exchange, and other academic initiatives.

 

 

TUAN Topics: Cherry blossoms have bloomed

Cherry blossoms in the rainbow plaza have bloomed.
This year the blossoms are later than usual and only about 10% of the tree are in bloom, but when they are in full bloom, the plaza will be filled with cherry blossoms.

TUAN Topics: Certificate Awarding Ceremony for Student Ambassador Conduted

On March 26, the certificate awarding ceremony for the Student Ambassadors was held and 24 student ambassadors who were able to attend the ceremony were presented with Certificates of Appreciation by Vice President HOMMA Miwako (Student Affairs), Vice President/Executive Director IKEDA Jun (Global Affairs), and Vice President NISHIO Chizuru (Planning, Evaluation, and Public Relations).

The student ambassadors completed trainings in the history of the University of Tsukuba and international etiquette, and guided the visitors from abroad at 151st+50th Anniversary Ceremony and related events held in September and October last year.

At the ceremony, Vice President Ikeda expressed his gratitude to the student ambassadors, and each student ambassador reported on the activities in which they had been engaged and gave their impressions.
